Overview

The Signal is a static website. We do not run advertising or sell data. This page explains what data is processed when you visit and how you can control it.

Data We Collect

We collect no personal data directly. There are no registration forms and no comment systems.

Server-side analytics (Netlify)

This site is hosted on Netlify. Netlify automatically processes standard HTTP request data — including IP addresses and browser user-agent strings — to generate aggregated traffic statistics. This processing occurs at the server level; no JavaScript tracking is involved and no cookies are set.

IP addresses are used solely for analytics aggregation and are not stored in identifiable form by the site operator. Netlify acts as a data processor under our instructions. See Netlify’s Privacy Policy for full details.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — understanding aggregate traffic to a public website.

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), operated by Google Ireland Limited. GA4 is only activated after you explicitly accept analytics cookies via the cookie banner.

Before you consent: No GA cookies are set and no data is sent to Google. The gtag.js library loads but operates in a denied state under Consent Mode v2.

After you consent: GA4 collects:

  • Pages viewed and navigation paths
  • Traffic source (how you arrived at the site)
  • Approximate geographic region (country/city level)
  • Device type and browser

IP anonymisation is enabled (anonymize_ip). We do not collect or transmit your full IP address to Google.

Cookies set by GA4: _ga (2-year expiry), _ga_F6DW64FG8M (2-year expiry). A consent preference cookie (cc_cookie) is also set by the cookie banner itself to remember your choice.

Google acts as a data processor. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Google Analytics data practices.

Legal basis: Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw consent at any time by clicking Cookie preferences in the site footer.

Fonts

This site loads web fonts from Bunny Fonts (fonts.bunny.net), an EU-hosted font service operated by BunnyWay d.o.o. (Slovenia). Bunny Fonts does not log visitor IP addresses and is fully GDPR-compliant. See the Bunny Fonts privacy page for details.

Contact Form

If you submit the contact form, we collect your name, company name (optional), subject, and message. This data is processed by Netlify Forms and forwarded to our team email. It is not shared with third parties and is deleted upon resolution of your inquiry. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Cookies and Local Storage

«««< Updated upstream This site uses a cookie (cc_cookie) set by our cookie consent banner to remember your preferences regarding analytics. This cookie does not track you — it only stores your consent choice.

By default, this site sets no cookies. If you accept analytics cookies via the cookie banner, GA4 sets two cookies (_ga, _ga_F6DW64FG8M) and the cookie banner sets one preference cookie (cc_cookie). See the Google Analytics section above for details.

Stashed changes

A single sessionStorage entry (introPlayed) is written to your browser to prevent a one-time text animation from replaying on page refresh. Session storage is never transmitted to any server and is cleared automatically when you close the browser tab.

Newsletter

The newsletter sign-up form on the homepage is not yet active. When activated, a separate notice will be added here explaining what data is collected and how it is processed.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or erase personal data we hold about you
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority

If you have accepted analytics cookies, you can withdraw consent at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the site footer — this will stop future GA4 data collection. For any other privacy-related questions, contact:

Changes

We may update this policy if the site’s data practices change. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
